News Report: The Life of Children in wartime

You have now made your way into Europe. As a young journalist, you must now produce an article for a Canadian newspaper on the experience of children in wartime.

The purpose of this article is to inform Canadians of what is happening now to the population, particularly children, in the context of a total war that makes no distinction between soldiers and civilians and in which children are inextricably part of both the war experience and the war effort. Your job is therefore to watch, read, and listen carefully to the witness testimonies available.

For your article, you will focus on very specific elements:

1) The children's experience in wartime: the creation of CORB, the reasons for sending children overseas, the Battle of the Atlantic;
2) the fate reserved to children onboard SS City of Benares: their voyage, their expectation, their courage, their suffering, their fate.

Your destination for your trip will be England.

Editor’s Specifications:

- Your reporting must be in the form of a newspaper article.

- Your article must be supported by historical sources collected during your stay (as found in the Virtual library)

-Your article must reveal the perspectives of people living at the time (their life, their feelings, their expectations, the political and social living conditions)

- Your article should contain roughly 250-300 words
